Hotel Rwanda
I just watched a movie called Hotel Rwanda. It’s the first movie I have ever seen labeled as, “A True Story”. I’ve seen lots of movies labeled as “Based on a True Story” but never as “A True Story”. I highly recommend watching this movie if you never have.
If your heart is broken at the atrocities of humanity, then watch this movie with caution. I have to say, at certain points my eyes were wet with tears, but the song after the movie just ripped my heart to shreds.
I have long been sorely disappointed with the UN and all of its member countries, especially the US for never getting involved with the genocides of poor countries. At times I am embarrassed to be known as an American. But, I am also very happy with the many good things that America has done to help other nations.
What bothers me most is the fact that poor countries like Rwanda have nothing to offer, and thus, no one did much to help, or stop what was going on. If there was oil or other economic interests for the major UN countries, without a doubt, we would have been there to stop the killing.
At any rate, it’s a great movie. I highly recommend watching it. May it inspire you to be involved in any way that you can in helping the poor of the world. Blessed are the poor, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Luke 6:19-21, “and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all. Looking at his disciples, he said: ‘Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.
Many of your already are involved in making a difference in the lives of those around you and abroad, :-) and bless you for that. If by chance you aren’t, may I offer you this little quote from Heller Keller. “I am only one; but I am still one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do.”
2 Cor. 9:8 says, “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. And in Gal 6:9-10 it says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
I hope the movie is something that many people in North America see and never forget. Blessings to you all.

Boy, you guys are fast. :) I agree with you Allen about getting all riled up. I tried to keep the blog more positive. I realize that I'm preaching to the choir but maybe someone will see it and be encouraged or challenged by it. One never knows.
More blogs there Darren, well, I have several waiting in the wings. I've been wanting to see this movie for several weeks now. I saw it a long time ago and thought it would probably be a good one but I wanted to wait until I wasn't so tired to watch it.
I've been trying to catch up with my email, reading and getting things done to be able to leave well. One of those things that I want to do is blog, so maybe you're appetite will be met before I leave. :-)
At any rate, it's good to have another blog out and to hear from you guys again. :)

This is Terry Arsenault.
Just read your blog and to say the least I have been encouraged. You see our church is planning a mission trip to Mozambique in the Summer of 2008 to help Heidi Baker with the Iris Ministry. It will be the 3rd such trip for or church and they are looking for another bunch of people to go. Last time 14 of our church members went just this past summer.
I never thought I say this, but I am feeling called to go.
But was debating it back and forth over this last week if I really heard from God correct on this. To me, your message really encouraged me, it spoke to my spirit. It gave me the confirmation I needed to hear. I am going to Africa in the summer of 2008!
Wow! It really got to be a God thing. I am very prone to motion sickness and I don't think I need to tell you how much flying is involved to get to Mozambique.
Not to mentioned the culture shock to deal with.
Anyhow, thanks for sharing your heart and keep this in prayer for me.
I should mention too, I have only flown once my life and it was in a 2 seater Cessna for 2 hours. So I have to deal with this issue also.

Terry, it's good to hear from you. :-) I'm glad to hear that you are going on a mission trip. :-) I will be praying for you especially with the difficulties that you mentioned you will be facing. The nice thing is, like boats and ships, the bigger the vessel, the less the motion sickness, especially with planes. :-) Going to Africa sounds like a real wonderful opportunity. Who am I kidding, :-P going anywhere in the world, even my own back yard, and sharing with people about God's love and kingdom is a wonderful opportunity. Still, being able to travel and meet new people and serve them is a real special blessing.
